For Big Brother Canada Season 12 houseguest Matthew Wong, a showmance and an alliance couldn't save him from being evicted from the house. But the 27-year-old from Surrey, B.C., was less deceptive than he thought he could on the show.

"I wanted to be more of a game player and maybe even be a little bit more manipulative," Wong told Yahoo Canada. "However, when you step into that environment, for myself, it's really hard for me to go against who I am, my character, my values. I'm a really loyal guy. I'm true to my word."

Evicted with a vote of four to three, against Elijah “Goose” Kazlauskas, we saw Wong plead to Victoria "Spicy Vee" Woghiren that he needed her support to stay in the house, but she just ultimately wasn't on his side.

"I thought there was a chance for sure," Wong said. "I feel like Spicy would genuinely keep her word and is a loyal person. However, I know Spicy is also a gamer and a superfan, so she would do whatever it takes to win the game, and tell people whatever they need to hear."

"I know she has strong alliances spread out through the house. However, I just thought with myself, Tola [Eam], [Anthony Douglas], Lexus [Jackson] and her, there's not five people in the house that would be a stronger competition threat, and that we would have had her all the way to the end."

'Lexus is someone that will be a part of my life for a long time'

Friendship alliances aside, Wong also had a "showmance" in the house with 24-year-old Lexus Jackson from Toronto.

"I definitely think it probably hurt my game," Wong said. "Spicy told me many times that the showmance was frowned upon and that people were raising awareness, and putting targets on my and Lexus' back, which wasn't good for Spicy's game."

"It possibly could have been Spicy who was raising that awareness to everyone as well. But ... I have no regrets being in that house. You're in there for 24 hours a day. You're spending time with only a handful of people and I'm away from my family, which is my comfort. So Lexus just provided me with that safe space where I could just essentially escape from the game for a little bit. Whether that helped me or not, I don't have any regrets. I had the opportunity to build a great relationship with someone and just enjoy the entire experience of Big Brother."

Looking to a possible future, Wong revealed that there have been some conversations about where this showmance could go outside of the Big Brother house.

"She's beautiful on the inside and out," Wong said. "I'm open and I'm upfront. I don't do anything just to fake it. I've definitely ... developed real feelings for her."

"Right now, I just want her to focus on the game and do whatever it takes to win, and be crowned the champion. However, I do hope that when we get out, maybe we can build off of it. I know we both spoke about it to each other. ... That being said, in the Big Brother house, it's not reality, so things can change. Emotions are amplified. ... Regardless of if it's a friendship or a romantic relationship, Lexus is someone that will be a part of my life for a long time, and just a great girl through and through."

Before he left the house, Wong told Jackson that she doesn't need to seek out "revenge" for his eviction right away.

"She needs to do what is best for her game long term and make sure she gets the final four, final three and then crowned the champ at the end," Wong said.
