The Big Bang Theory is heading for “another” wedding as Season 10 opens, paving the way for Katey Sagal to debut as Penny’s mother. Yet this is not the first time the Golden Globe winner has been eyed for a role on the CBS hitcom.

Speaking with Michael Ausiello at TVLine’s Comic-Con studio presented by ZTE, exec producers Steven Molaro and Bill Prady shared that Sagal’s name had come up earlier in the series’ run, to serve a different purpose. But all along, the actress told the show, “She is always happy and ready to play Kaley [Cuoco]’s mom” — just as previously did on the ABC sitcom 8 Simple Rules.

The producers then go on to confirm another return for Penny’s wedding re-do, as well as tout the unlikely casting of JAck McBrayer as Penny’s drug dealer brother.
