Mar. 8—MANCHESTER — President Joe Biden's first visit to New Hampshire since he spurned the Granite State's first-in-the-nation primary will include both an official taxpayer-funded event and a reelection campaign stop.

The White House announced that the trip will begin with an official event in Manchester, where he will speak about "lowering costs" for American families.

During Biden's State of the Union speech Thursday night, he asked Congress to cap prescription drug costs for all Americans at $2,000 a year. That's a new limit that those on Medicare will have to bear out of pocket under an existing federal law that kicks in next year.

Biden said he'll seek to cap at $35 a month the cost for anyone who needs insulin, mirroring a cap Congress put in place for anyone who has diabetes.

On housing, Biden called for a $400-per-month tax credit for the next two years for those buying a new home or "trading up" for another because the family needs more space.

Later in the day Monday, Biden will take part in a Biden-Harris campaign event, officials said.

The dual events mean both taxpayers and the campaign will split costs for the president's travel.

Both campaign and Biden administration officials said further information about the events will be released later.
