Bicyclist struck on U.S. 36, injuries life threatening

WEST LAFAYETTE − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported a vehicle striking a bicyclist at 7:06 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 36, near County Road 115 in Lafayette Township.

Authorities said in a press release that Ryan Lahna, 33, of Coshocton, was traveling eastbound when he left marked lanes, going over the fog line. He then struck a bicycle heading eastbound outside the lane of travel on the shoulder. The rider was Matthias Miller, 18, of Fresno.

Miller was transported from the scene by Med-Flight to Akron City Hospital with what the press release described as life threatening injuries. Lahna and a juvenile passenger in his vehicle didn't suffer any injuries, per the release.

Assisting were the West Lafayette Fire Department, Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services, Prince's Wrecker and REACT.
