Bicyclist killed in Kalamazoo hit-and-run crash

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A bicyclist was killed in a Saturday evening hit-and-run crash in Kalamazoo.

Around 10:10 p.m., officers with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety were sent to the area of Mills Street near Oneal Street after receiving reports about a body in the roadway.

Responding deputies found a badly injured body with a bicycle nearby. KDPS said that it appeared to have been a hit-and-run crash.

The body was taken to the Western Michigan University School of Medicine for an autopsy.

The person’s name has not been released.

Anyone who was in the area of Mills Street from King Highway to E Michigan Avenue around 10 p.m. is asked to call KDPS at 269.337.8139 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100.

“Observations made during this time will greatly assist Detectives in determining how this occurred and who was involved,” KDPS said in a release.

The crash remains under investigation.
