Bicyclist dies 2 weeks after collision in east Las Vegas valley

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Las Vegas bicyclist died two weeks after being hit by a vehicle in the east valley, police said Monday.

At around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a vehicle versus bicycle collision on North Nellis Boulevard north of East Bonanza Road.

According to police, a Honda Pilot was driving north on Nellis while a sport bike travelled west across the same road. The collision occurred when the bicyclist drove in front of the Honda “in an unsafe manner” and the Honda hit the bicyclist.

Police said the bicyclist was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. On April 22, the bicyclist, identified as Jose Dominguez, 43, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff.

According to police, the Honda driver cooperated with the investigation and did not show signs of impairment.

Dominguez’s death marks the 53rd traffic-related fatality in the LVMP’s jurisdiction in 2024.
