Bicycle-riding suspect guns down man in south Las Vegas neighborhood, police say

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Police are looking for the suspect who gunned down a man standing in front of a residence in a south valley neighborhood.

The shooting occurred around 10:45 a.m. Tuesday in the 5700 block of Ritter Lane, near Hacienda Avenue and Jones Boulevard. The victim was transported to UMC where he was later pronounced dead.

According to Las Vegas Metropolitan police, the suspect who is described as a Black man, was wearing dark clothing and riding a bicycle. The suspect rode towards the victim. After several shots were fired, the suspect was seen running towards his bicycle and riding away north on Steinbrenner Lane.

A neighbor who has lived nearby for years told 8 News Now she walked her dog just before the shooting happened on Tuesday morning and she came back outside to the sight of police tape.

“It’s frightening… I think it’s happening everywhere,” Terri Mccallun, who lives around the corner from the victim’s house, explained. “There are a lot of nice neighbors in this area. We kind of watch out for each other. You just have to care about where you live.”

The victim’s identity will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
