The 2022 Oscars opened with a performance by Beyonce from a tennis court in Compton, California.
The singer, who grew up in Houston, sang her Oscar-nominated original song “Be Alive” from best-picture nominee “King Richard.”
The film tells the story of tennis legends and Compton-raised Venus and Serena Williams and their coach/father Richard Williams.
The sisters introduced Beyonce from the stage at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
