Everybody stop everything: Beyoncé has spoken for the first time since welcoming her twins with her (newly-capitalised) husband JAY-Z earlier this month.

While it's widely been reported that the couple's twins arrived about two weeks ago after Beyoncé's dad Mathew Knowles shared the news on social media, the world has been waiting for a statement from Beyoncé or JAY-Z themselves. And a statement came during Sunday night's (June 25) BET Awards.

Queen Bey sent along a message of thanks to the ceremony, where she won five of the seven awards she was nominated for, which was read out by R&B artists Chloe x Halle.

And while she didn't actually directly acknowledge the birth or their new arrivals, Beyoncé did thank her entire family for "so much love".

"Thank you, BET, for this award and your tremendous support of Lemonade," Beyoncé said in the statement. "This has been a journey of love, of celebrating our culture, honouring the past, and approaching the present and future with hope and resolve.

"Thank you to my mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, for being my biggest, biggest teacher and consistent influence. Thank you to my entire family for so much love. To my team at Parkwood, thank you.

"And thanks to all the fans, my Beyhive, for riding with me. I love and appreciate you. And to everyone at the show tonight, you all look so beautiful. And at home, thank you, and have a wonderful, wonderful night. From, Beyoncé."

Beyoncé announced she was expecting twins by sharing a gorgeous photo of her baby bump on Instagram back in February.

The twins' arrival this month has taken the Carter family up to a party of five now, as Bey and Jay-Z welcomed their first daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, in 2012.
