Better Business Bureau warns consumers about scams ahead of Mother’s Day

NEW YORK (PIX11) — Mother’s Day is just around the corner, but the Better Business Bureau is warning consumers to be wary of scams when buying gifts – especially last-minute items like flowers and jewelry.

“Scammers anticipate that people will look for last-minute Mother’s Day gifts online, and they can try to trick buyers with phony deals. Before you buy, check the legitimacy and reliability of the business,” said Claire Rosenzweig, President & CEO of the BBB Serving Metropolitan New York. “See what others have reported to BBB about a florist or jeweler before you order.”

The agency says the best way to tell if the agency is legitimate is to check for online reviews and their rating here.
