Crews responded to a structure fire shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday on the 24000 block of 179th Street Place. Heavy fire was coming from the front side of the home when the first crews arrived.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire on the outside of the home and made entry into the house to extinguish the blaze that burned through the exterior walls into the home and attic. Fire crews performed interior searches throughout all levels of the home.

A resident was home at the time of the fire and was outside of the structure when crews arrived.

The home is uninhabitable because of structural damage, heavy fire and smoke damage. The utilities have been disconnected from the home and the fire is still under investigation.

No injuries were reported.

Among mutual aid agencies that responded were Rock Island Arsenal Fire, LeClaire and Riverdale fire departments and Medic EMS of Scott County. MidAmerican Energy was notified.
