The Best Socks to Keep Those Toes Toasty All Winter Long

When I guided backpacking treks, I always told group to take care of the two most important things, “Your feet, and your food.” In the regular world, most people eat plenty well, but too often they neglect the wellbeing of their feet. The easiest place to start? A great pair of socks.

In my role as Field Editor, I am lucky enough to go out in the world to look for stories. Before I do, I make sure I have a good pair of socks on my feet, and a few extra pairs in my bag. And they’re never cotton (if it gets wet, it’ll never dry, it can’t keep you warm).
