The best Final Fantasy game is leaving PS PlusSquare Enix

PlayStation Plus Extra is losing over 20 games on May 21, including multiple Final Fantasy titles, one of which is the franchise's best entry.

Of course, everyone has their own 'best' Final Fantasy, so to avoid arguments, we're going by Metacritic score. By that metric, Final Fantasy IX is the best FF game, with a whopping score of 94.

Originally released on PS1, the game combines science-fiction and medieval traditions, and follows a princess kidnapping plot that leads to plenty of emotional moments, war, and the fate of the existence. The PS4 port comes with a speed-up function, the option to turn off random battles, and 'God Mode' toggles.

Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X are two other titles often in contention for the 'best FF' crown, and they are included in the list of leavers (as is sequel FFX-2, which is bundled in with FFX).

The subscription service is also losing Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered, Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition, and cutesy spin-off World of Final Fantasy.
