The best animal photographs captured this year are by turns arresting, charming and inspiring. Images of a cheetah and her three babies at their enclosure at the zoo in Germany; a black-capped squirrel monkey looking into a broadcast crew’s camera and lens at London Zoo; and a man and his kitten, Survivor, being rescued from floodwaters after Hurricane Florence were all captivating for their own reasons and rank among the best animal pictures of 2018.
