Bernie Sanders' run for the Democratic nomination – A look back

Bernie Sanders officially endorsed Hillary Clinton on Tuesday, urging his supporters to get behind the presumptive Democratic nominee in order to thwart Donald Trump.

Sanders had started off the race as a quixotic also-ran, but he steadily gained traction. Eventually, thousands of mostly young supporters filled his rallies, his campaign coffers overflowed with small-dollar donations, and he started winning state after state. Clinton, however, remained a dominant force and ultimately won a decisive victory ? both in votes and in convention delegates.

The Vermont senator nevertheless refused to concede the race to Clinton, a fact made awkward by the fact that she locked up the nomination in early June. That changed with Tuesday’s rally in New Hampshire.

Here’s a look back at Sanders’ rollercoaster of a campaign.
