CHARLEVOIX — Bergmann Center, Inc. has named Keri Laporte-Montero as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective as of March 18.

The board of directors cited Laporte-Montero’s extensive experience in their decision.

“Keri’s extensive years of experience with hands-on management of Medicaid recipients, as well as her background in nonprofit development, combined with strong personal recommendations from professionals in the community mental health field, allowed the board to pursue Keri’s services to fill this critical position," said board chair Matthew Kavanaugh in a press release. "The board selected Keri not only based on her experience, but because she has a vested interest in the community mental health industry and in Northwest Lower Michigan. Her knowledge, energy and leadership capabilities will allow her to update Bergmann Center’s operational infrastructure, hire new support staff (including a new CFO), expand direct client services and upgrade the convenience and bargains the community finds at our M-66 Resale Store. We wholeheartedly support her efforts and look forward to working with Keri, her team and the local community mental health agency."

Laporte-Montero, a native of Northern Michigan and graduate of Harbor Springs High School, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Grand Valley State University. Her background includes over a decade of experience in various roles, including direct care, foster care case management and child/adult protective services. She also brings seven years of experience managing her own Independent Support Coordination business, focusing on individuals with developmental disabilities.

Laporte-Montero also serves on the board of directors for Renewed Communities, a nonprofit organization providing housing assistance in Berry and surrounding counties.
