From Road & Track

Currently, the Bentley Bentayga SUV comes equipped with either a twin-turbo W12 producing 600 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, and if you live outside the US, a twin-turbo diesel V8. Today, a new engine joins the family. Meet the Bentley Bentayga V8.

Sporting the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo gas-powered V8 found in pretty much every other big VW Group car these days, the Bentayga V8 is aimed at buyers that don't necessarily need a dozen cylinders under the hood, and the badge snobbery that comes with it. Making 542 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque, it's able to get from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 mph. For comparison, the 12-cylinder Bentayga hits 60 mph in 4.0 seconds flat, and runs all the way up to 187 mph.

Visually, the V8 sports some minor changes. Like other V8-powered Bentley models, the Bentayga gets a blacked-out grille mesh up front, and horizontally opposed eight-shaped dual tailpipes out back.

And just because the V8 Bentagya is missing some cylinders doesn't mean it's any less luxurious inside. The cabin still features tons of leather, wood, and real metal, along with plenty of tech and comfort features. You also get a 48-volt active anti-roll system and multi-mode air suspension. New for the V8 model is the option of high-gloss carbon fiber trim.

There's also optional carbon-ceramic brakes for the V8 Bentayga with discs measuring 17.3 inches up front, and 14.5 inches at the rear. Bentley claims that these are the largest front brakes fitted to any production car.

Pricing for the US has yet to be announced, but expected it to undercut the W12 by a considerable margin.
