Benfica wins 2-0 at Arouca to close in on title
LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Benfica won 2-0 at Arouca on Sunday to close to within two points of its first Portuguese league title since 2010.
Forward Rodrigo Moreno scored Benfica's first goal in first-half injury time, and Nicolas Gaitan sealed the team's 10th straight win in league play with a second goal in the 56th.
Benfica can clinch its 33rd domestic crown when it hosts Olhanense next Saturday.
Also on Sunday, FC Porto won 3-1 at Braga as it stayed in third place.
Porto midfielder Silvestre Varela opened in the 23rd from a pass by Jackson Martinez before Erick Moreno's header leveled for Braga in the 57th.
Carlos Eduardo restored Porto's lead with a header in the 85th and substitute Juan Quintero capped the victory in the 90th.
