Ben McAdoo plans “on playing great football” against Chiefs and getting a win

New York Giants head coach Ben McAdoo implored Giants fans Saturday to watch his team put on “a great show” when they host the Kansas City Chiefs.

McAdoo, in an interview with the New York Daily News’ John Healy, also predicted his 1-8 Giants will defeat the 6-3 AFC West leading Chiefs.

“Come out, watch a great show. We plan on playing great football on Sunday and getting a win,” McAdoo said. “Fans have been nothing but great. Players want support, and we need to give fans something to cheer about.”

McAdoo’s Giants haven’t given fans much to cheer about this season. They opened up with five consecutive losses and couldn’t build any momentum after their lone win against the Denver Broncos, losing the three games they’ve played since. They’ve been outscored 106-45 in their last three contests.

McAdoo, who has had his competence as a head coach questioned, received a somewhat of a vote of confidence from owners John Mara and Steve Tisch earlier in the week. Mara and Tisch said in a joint statement that the Giants will “evaluate the 2017 season in its entirety and make a determination on how we move forward”.

The Giants, who have beaten the Chiefs 10 out of 13 meetings including six games at home, are 10.5-point underdogs.
