The tour will live up to its name, literally. For years, Folds has taken requests from fans who write them on a piece of paper, make a paper airplane and throw it onto the stage.

Folds has performed professionally for decades, both as a solo act, in his band Ben Folds Five, and with local orchestras. He performed alongside the Grand Rapids Orchestra last summer at a show at the Frederik Meijer Gardens.

He released “What Matters Most,” his fourth solo album, last year. To date, Folds has released four albums with Ben Folds Five and two others with different collaborators. Folds has also acted in several TV shows and movies and served as a judge for four seasons on NBC’s a cappella competition show “The Sing-Off.”

An online-only local presale window will open at 10 a.m. Thursday. Ticket sales for the general public will start at 10 a.m. Friday. There is a six-ticket limit on each purchase.
