Beloved Sedgwick County Zoo mule dies

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Sedgwick County Zoo says Banshee has died. The zoo posted to Facebook about Banshee’s passing Thursday morning:

It’s with heavy hearts that we share the news of Banshee’s passing.

After a battle with age-related issues, Banshee’s caregivers made the extremely difficult decision to allow her the same pride in passing as she commanded in life.

She was stubborn, respectable, took charge of situations, and was a great mentor to others in the barn. Physically, she was large for a mule and her personality was even larger.

Mules are the offspring of male donkeys and female horses and have a lifespan of 25 to 50 years. Banshee lived at the Children’s Farms and had been with the Sedgwick County Zoo for over 25 years.
