Belmont man faces hit-and-run charge in Cramerton wreck

Cramerton Police officers have made an arrest in an Aug. 2 hit-and-run wreck that left one person with serious injuries.

Adam Zachary Bess, 43, of 2560 Shaggy Bark Court, Belmont, was booked into Gaston County Jail at 6:45 p.m. Friday on a charge of felony hit and run causing serious injury or death. He was released about 90 minutes later after posting $100,000 bail.

Cramerton Police were called to Eagle Road near Lakewood Road at 8:46 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2.

An initial investigation indicates that the suspected vehicle was traveling on Eagle Road toward Lakewood Road when the passenger side mirror struck the pedestrian who was walking along the side of the roadway.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, according to police.
