GREEN BAY - After merging the two health systems, Bellin Health and Gundersen Health announced Tuesday they will be known as Emplify Health.

About 1½ years after the two Wisconsin-based health systems announced they would be combining, Scott Rathgaber — CEO of Bellin and Gundersen — said they're renaming under Emplify Health. Emplify comes from “empathy” and “amplify" created to "align our care, teams, and resources," Rathgaber said in a news conference Tuesday.

The transition is expected to be a years-long process so the names of Bellin's hospitals and clinics will not change immediately, Rathgaber said. Calls to clinics and patients' visits shouldn't be different, he said.

The Gundersen Medical Foundation and Bellin Health Foundation will remain the same. Donations to the Bellin Foundation will stay in Bellin's service area.

"It's a continuation and evolution of our shared legacies," Rathgaber said.

The health system launched a new website Tuesday for Emplify Health at emplifyhealth.org. Bellin and Gundersen have 11 hospitals and over 100 clinics in Wisconsin, Upper Michigan, Minnesota, and Iowa.

The two health systems announced their merger in December 2022.
