Bella Hadid Is Giving Us Major '70s Vibes in Her New Nike Campaign

It's a given that Bella Hadid looks incredible in a gown, but she's also got a knack for killing it every time she steps out in streetwear. Case in point: the logo T-shirt train from the 1990s she's been riding since it became "a thing" last year, and her affinity for elevated athleisure. Now Hadid is throwing it back even further in time (metaphorically, at least) in her latest ad campaign for Nike celebrating the forty-fifth anniversary of its beloved sneaker the Cortez.
Although appearing on Bella Hadid may have been the Cortez sneaker's latest brush with fame, it's not the sneaker's first: You may remember Forrest Gump running across the country wearing a pair of them in the 1994 eponymous film. But Hadid's shoot harkens further back as an actual homage to a famous 1970s-era photo of Farrah Fawcett skateboarding on the set of Charlie's Angels, wearing the Cortez sneaks, as first reported by Fashionista.
For Hadid's shoot, Nike re-created the iconic image but with fresh updates: In the campaign, Hadid is wearing a lace-up sports bra paired with bell-bottoms, with a Nike waistband peeking out. In contrast, Fawcett's photo featured the actress with her signature feathered hair and a long-sleeve top with bell-bottoms.
The newly reissued sneakers, which go on sale June 1, will be available in the original blue-and-red color palette, although more shade combinations are expected to roll out this summer, according to W (potentially including the all-white model pictured below?). Hadid's already worn the sneakers a slew of times, but don't expect her to stop anytime soon. "This one is about as classic as you can get," Hadid told W. "Nike’s real OG and I wear it with anything, dressed up or down."
