Bella to the Bayou: Eldorado guard commits to LSU

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico’s top recruited high school athlete has made her decision. With over 30 Division I offers, Eldorado point guard Bella Hines was one of the most sought-after recruits in the country for the class of 2025. On Tuesday, she narrowed the field down to one as she revealed that she would be taking her talents to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to play for the LSU Tigers.

“Honestly, it just felt like a second home,” said Hines. “Their coaching staff, I’m super close with. I’ve built a special relationship with every coach on the staff and then just there community and their culture out there is just super cool to be around.”

During her high school career at Eldorado, Hines established herself as an elite scorer. This past season, she ranked 11th nationally and first in New Mexico by scoring 32.5 points per game. She is ranked a four-star recruit and the No. 31 prospect per the ESPNW Super 60.

Hines is now set to play under hall of fame coach Kim Mulkey at LSU. Mulkey is a four-time national champion, most recently in 2023 at LSU.

“I’m going in technically to be like the shooter of the team but, they know that’s not all I can do. But, I feel like a big part of my role will be shooting the three ball, just because I feel like they need a consistent three point shooter. So, I feel like I slide into that role really well.”

Hines will report to LSU following her high school graduation next year.
