Beckley Salvation Army to launch Boys and Girls Club

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — Kids in Beckley will have an exciting new opportunity starting in May 2024.

The Beckley Salvation Army is starting the first ever Boys and Girls Club in southern West Virginia. Boys and Girls Club is an after school program intended to both give kids an enjoyable experience and help them academically.

Captain Liz Blusiewicz with the Salvation Army said on Friday, April 12, 2024 the program will focus on at risk youth.

“And so we want to be a place where kids can come and be kids and also we want to challenge them,” Blusiewicz said.

She said sign ups are available both on the Salvation Army website and in person.

The program will be located at the new Salvation Army building on Robert C. Byrd Drive in Beckley.

There’s also a summer camp that will be held starting the second week of June. They hope to start the after school program the week of May 10, 2024.
