Beaver Island Parkway bridge reopens ahead of holiday weekend

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Beaver Island Parkway bridge is reopening following an $8.3 million replacement project last year, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Friday.

The bridge on Grand Island that stretches over I-190 was replaced to feature a new concrete riding surface, new guide rails, new line striping and wider travel lanes and emergency shoulders.

“The replacement of the Beaver Island Parkway Bridge is one of many infrastructure investments in Western New York to upgrade our transportation system and provide safe and reliable roads and bridges for decades to come,” Hochul said in a release.

Every year, roughly 300,000 people visit Beaver Island State Park.
