Beau Rivage putting on a Super Bowl-size drone show. Here’s the new starting time

The 500-drone show celebrating the 25th anniversary of Beau Rivage Resort & Casino will have as many drones as lit up the start of the Macy’s July 4 fireworks show in New York last year and the Super Bowl last month in Las Vegas.

The free show on Saturday, March 16, is the highlight of a weekend-long celebration of the opening of the Beau Rivage on March 15, 1999, in downtown Biloxi.

Verge Aero, a company that has arranged drone shows at the Borgata Casino in Las Vegas and many other events, will tell the story of the resort and the Coast in lighted images in the sky, said Mary Cracchiolo, regional public relations for Beau Rivage.

“It’s going to be something like we’ve never seen on the Coast,”she said.

The 11-minute show now will start at 8 p.m. The drones will take off from the top of the Beau Rivage parking garage and will “paint” images in the night sky, about 400 feet in the air and out over the water. Traditional fireworks are not part of the presentation.

Those images will be a kind of storyline of 25 years of Beau Rivage and Coast history.

The lights will be choreographed to music that spectators can hear by downloading the free SkyStream app and using the QR code to bring up the music timed to the drone show.

Best places to see the show

The best vantage point will be the top floor of the Beau Rivage parking garage, Cracchiolo said. The music will be broadcast there without needing to download the app.

People also can watch the drone show from the beach, with the best views close to the Beau and west to the Biloxi Lighthouse.

Parking is expected to fill up quickly in the Beau Rivage garage. Additional free parking is available throughout the downtown in city parking lots and designated on-street parking spaces. For those who park downtown, the safest way to cross the multi-lanes on U.S. 90 in front of the Beau Rivage is to take the crosswalk.

More 25th celebrations

The 25th anniversary party is a weekend full of special events.

“Just as we did when Beau Rivage opened its doors 25 years ago, we have a planned a party like no other and invite all to join us in celebrating this milestone,” said Brandon Dardeau Beau Rivage president and CEO.

On Friday, Biloxi Blonde Beer makes its comeback with a Chandeleur Brewery tap takeover at a party in Bet MGM.

Coast Brewing Company at Beau Rivage was the first microbrewery in the state, Cracchiolo said, and its brewmaster Brian Bush created the Biloxi Blonde that beat Miller Lite in a national brew festival.

Hurricane Katrina took out the copper brew tanks where Biloxi Blonde and six other beers were brewed. Now in partnership with Chandeleur Brewing, Biloxi Blonde will be available again exclusively at the Beau Rivage for the celebration and beyond.
