Bear That Wandered Into Washington Neighborhood Captured for Relocation

A bear that had been seen wandering around a neighborhood in Lakewood, Washington, on Wednesday, May 15, was tranquilized and captured, according to the city government.

Video from Danyele Bailey shows the bear after it was reportedly tranquilized.

Wildlife officials think the bear was “kicked out” by its mother and was scavenging for food, the city of Lakewood said on Facebook. A local school was put on lockdown while the bear was roaming the area, police said.

Wildlife officials told local outlet KOMO News that the bear will be relocated to a "more suitable habitat in the North Cascades.” Credit: Danyele Bailey via Storyful
