Bear spotted in Negaunee; city leaders urge caution

NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WJMN) — City leaders in Negaunee are warning residents of a black bear seen around town in the evening hours.

Friday afternoon, a spokesperson for the city posted the notice on Facebook, saying a black bear has been seen during evening hours. It is unclear if the sighting was of more than one bear, or on more than one evening.

The spokesperson reminded residents not to approach bears, and anyone who sees one on their property should contact Marquette County Central Dispatch at the non-emergency number 906-475-9912.
