Beacon Roofing names Welker as acting CFO

PEABODY, Mass. (AP) -- Beacon Roofing Supply has named Rick Welker as its acting chief financial officer.

Welker, who is vice president and chief accounting officer, takes over the role from the 53-year-old David Grace, who retired at the end of last year.

Beacon said Wednesday that an executive search firm is assisting with finding a permanent replacement.

Welker, 53, joined the building materials distributor in 2004. He has served as vice president since February 2006 and as CAO since November 2011.

Shares of Beacon Roofing Supply Inc., based in Peabody, Mass., added 69 cents to $33.97 in afternoon trading after rising as high as $34.45 earlier in the session. That was its highest level on record, according to FactSet.
