Beach quickly cools

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — It was a bright and sunny start this morning, but sea fog developed as did a noticeable sea breeze. The beaches were clear and in the low-70s at 9 a.m., but clouds overtook the coast and temperatures dropped into the upper 60s. Not much warming will be expected if the clouds hold strong. High temperatures will be in the upper-80s inland and mid-70s at the beach.

A couple of isolated storms will develop throughout the afternoon, there was already a severe thunderstorm warning in the Midlands, but that fizzled out quickly as it continued east. Most of the area will stay dry but some will experience a downpour.

A cold front will push south tomorrow morning and will stall out. Storms are expected again tomorrow afternoon but remain close to the frontal boundary in the southern part of our viewing area: Florence, Marion, and Horry counties are more likely to see development tomorrow afternoon. Temperatures will be back in the 80s tomorrow.

Much cooler weather will move in for Sunday with highs near 70. The front will remain offshore on Sunday and Monday, keeping it cloudy and cool with rain showers. Coverage will be widespread Sunday evening into the overnight. Temperatures on Monday will stay in the 60s. Monday looks gloomy with light rain lingering into Tuesday morning.
