Beach Park man, 70, accused of sexually assaulting non-verbal, intellectually disabled woman

LAKE COUNTY, Ill. — A 70-year-old man faces felony charges after allegedly assaulting a non-verbal, intellectually disabled woman sexually in Beach Park, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say Alfredo De La Cruz of Beach Park forced the daughter of his house cleaner of two years to perform sexual acts. Authorities learned of the alleged assault after the house cleaner became suspicious of De La Cruz and set up surveillance, which captured him in the act.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the woman who cleaned De La Cruz’s home brought her daughter to the house on several occasions. Deputies added that the victim usually stayed in the living room while her mother cleaned.

De La Cruz faces felony charges of aggravated criminal sexual assault and abuse of an intellectually disabled person and two counts of criminal sexual assault.
