Bay Minette airport gets state funding for repairs

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — A Baldwin County airport is one of two municipal airports in the state that can start making improvements with funding from the Alabama Department of Transportation.

According to a press release, ALDOT awarded over $200,000 to the Bay Minette Municipal Airport in Baldwin County and the Isbell Field Airport in Fort Payne (DeKalb County) through the Alabama Airport Funding Program.

The funding was divided as follows:

  • Bay Minette Municipal Airport: $226,127 for pavement maintenance to the northwest apron of the airport.

  • The City of Fort Payne in DeKalb County: $106,709 for concrete pavement improvements for taxiways at Isbell Field.

Further, the release said, “Bay Minette Municipal Airport Authority will provide $75,376.00 in matching local funds for a total value project of $301,503.00.

“The City of Fort Payne will provide $35,570.00 in matching local funds for a total value project of $142,279.00.”
