Battery from electric bike sparks garage fire in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A battery from an electric bike sparked a fire in a home in Northwest Fresno, the Fresno Fire Department said on Friday.

Firefighters say they responded to a home in the area of W King Fisher Ln., near the bluffs in Northwest Fresno for a garage on fire shortly after 7 a.m.

Fire officials say a battery from an electric bicycle had sparked a fire. The homeowner heard a strange noise coming from the garage, which was discovered to be the sound of the sprinkler system flowing water. The sprinkler system kept the fire in check until firefighters could extinguish it.

Fire officials say the fire damage was limited to the garage wall and some personal belongings stored in the garage. No injuries were reported in this incident.
