Baton Rouge ranked as the third best place to live in Louisiana, report shows

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Baton Rouge was ranked as the third best place to live in Louisiana in the Best Places to Live in Louisiana 2024-2025 Rankings by U.S. News & World Report.

The list considered performances in categories such as quality of life, value, desirability, and job market. According to the report, “the four categories were evaluated using a methodology determined by Americans’ preferences.”

“The percent weighing for each index follows the answers from a February 2024 public survey in which people from across the country voted for what they believed was the most important factor to consider when choosing where to live,” the U.S. News & World Report said.

Quality of life accounted for 32%, value was 27%, desirability was 19% and job market accounted for 22%, according to the report.

Louisiana ranked as the worst state in US, report shows

Baton Rouge ranked third in the 2024-2025 Best Places to Live in Louisiana rankings. The capital city had an overall score of 5.8. It also scored a 5.6 for quality of life and a 6.6 for value, according to the report.

According to U.S. News & World Report, Lafayette ranked as the best place to live in Louisiana. Shreveport (No. 2) and New Orleans (No. 4) were also considered to be some of the best places to live in the Pelican state.
