Baton Rouge man accused of sex crimes involving a teen girl arrested

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge Police have arrested a 19-year-old accused of having carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

According to the arrest warrant, on Jan. 26, BRPD officers were contacted by the victim’s father about a sexual assault. Officers learned that a 16-year-old girl met with Joseph Robin, 19, while babysitting. The victim’s father told officers that his daughter sat in the truck with Robin and began kissing and performing sexual acts.

The victim’s father was aware of the incident after the family who hired his daughter to babysit notified him of a suspicious vehicle, according to court documents. The victim’s father told officers that the suspicious vehicle was a silver Toyota Tacoma and the man was named “Joseph Robin”. During an investigation, officers learned a silver Toyota Tacoma was registered to Robin.

Officers scheduled an interview with the victim along with a lineup to identify the suspect.

Court documents state the victim told officers she met with a 19-year-old man who she’d been talking to via Snapchat named Joseph Robin. She agreed to meet with him while babysitting. She also told officers that she informed Robin she was 16 years old. Robin reportedly sent her an inappropriate video. The victim was able to identify Robin in a suspect lineup.

Robin was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of computer-aided solicitation of a minor and misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
