Baton Rouge chapter of 100 Black Women event to talk about job networking, pay equity

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., a nonprofit whose mission is to advocate for Black women and girls to promote leadership development and gender equity, is hosting a Saturday summit.

The organization is hosting its Pay Equity Summit from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6 at Baton Rouge Community College located at 201 Community College Drive.

“Our purpose for the pay equity event is not only to educate and to bring awareness to the pay disparities that we are having for women but we want to have our attendees to leave with the empowerment for them to be able to go back to their workplace with the skills necessary for them change their pay individually,” said Economic Empowerment Committee Chair Dannielle Lewis.

With support from local organizations and officials, event organizers hope to inspire change, emphasizing improving pay equity for Black women.

The schedule of events includes a workshop about networking, resume and interview skills, leadership skills and job readiness panel, and topics of salary negotiation, legislation and retirement.
