Baton Rouge blood donors can enter into raffle to win new generator, hurricane essentials kit
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Anyone who donates blood to the LifeShare Blood Center during National Hurricane Preparedness Week will be entered into a raffle to win a generator and an emergency hurricane kit.
LifeShare said Home Depot donated the generators and emergency kits. Those who give in person at the donor center from Monday, May 6 to Saturday, May 11 will be entered to win.
“When preparing for emergencies, like hurricanes, we don’t often think about blood donation. The reality is blood donation is emergency preparedness. Whole blood expires after 42 days and platelets expire after only seven days,” said Director of Community Engagement Mandi Johnson. “Planning ahead for possible disruptions to our collections helps ensure a robust blood supply when our community needs it.”
