Bass Pro Shops U.S. Open Bowfishing Championship: See when, where

GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) — The 11th Annual Bass Pro Shops U.S. Open Bowfishing Championship will be held in Gonzales from Saturday, April 27 to Sunday, April 28.

The two-day competition will be held at the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s in Gonzales, 2200 W. Cabela’s Parkway.

“The dynamic sport of bowfishing is a unique blend of hunting and fishing that hooks any sportsman or woman once they try it,” said John Paul Morris, founder of the Bass Pro Shops U.S. Open Bowfishing Championship. “We’re excited to bring the U.S. Open Bowfishing Championship to the swamps, bayous, rivers and lakes of Louisiana.”

The event is open to two-to-four-person teams and the tournament will offer over $100,000 in cash and prizes, according to a release. The top five teams who finish in a TRACKER Bowfishing Boat will get bonus cash, with first place receiving a $10,000 bonus.

In addition, there will also be conservation side pots that “are awarded for the harvest of the largest invasive species,” according to a release. Those species include Grass Carp, Common Carp, Bighead Carp and Silver Carp.

Entry fees per team are $300 and “all teams must pre-register online. “Teams that pre-register will get a tournament shirt and entered into a drawing to win a TRACKER Grizzly 2072 Bowfishing Boat Package.

Attendees will also be able to enjoy a variety of vendor booths, seminars, food, live music, shooting lanes, and prizes, according to a release.
