According to his mother, Barron Trump is declining an offer to serve as a GOP delegate when his father Donald Trump officially becomes the Republican party nominee during July’s convention.

He’s busy that day.

“While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments,” according to a statement from Melania Trump obtained Friday by NPR.

Three of the presumptive presidential candidate’s children were listed as convention delegates by the Florida Republican Party’s list of at-large delegates released Wednesday. His daughter Ivanka Trump had been the sole exception.

Barron Trump has kept a very low profile since his father entered politics as a GOP candidate for president in 2015. That unlikely candidacy ended in an Electoral College victory for the 77-year-old former reality TV star.

But Barron Trump’s own foray into politics may be simply being postponed rather than canceled, according to the former president, who hopes to return to the White House in November.

“He’s pretty young. I will say he’s 17,” Trump Told Telemundo Thursday. “But if they can do that, I’m all for it.”

Barron, who graduates from high school next week, celebrated his 18th birthday in March.

A New York judge granted Donald Trump a day off from his ongoing criminal trial in Manhattan to attend his son’s May 17 graduation ceremony in Florida. The former president is also scheduled to speak at a fundraiser in Minnesota later that day.

Neither Melania nor Barron Trump have attended Donald Trump’s trial, which centers around hush money he allegedly paid to a porn star he had an affair with in 2006 shortly after his son was born.

Trump has denied the fling, despite evidence and testimony arguing otherwise. It’s not known if he’ll take the stand in his own defense.
