Barrington resident and veteran Samantha Bell honored by Hire Heroes USA
ATLANTA, GA — Hire Heroes USA, a national nonprofit organization that empowers U.S. military members, veterans and spouses to succeed in the civilian workforce, last week hosted its second annual Empowerment Gala, an event celebrating individuals and partners who have made outstanding contributions to veterans and their spouses in the transition to civilian careers.
"Military members and spouses often face unique challenges as they search for employment, and we are there to help them navigate those difficult waters," said Ross Dickman, CEO of Hire Heroes USA. "The Empowerment Gala gives us an opportunity to honor the resilience of our clients and to celebrate the partners and volunteers who make this mission possible.”
The Empowerment Gala recognized outstanding partners and individuals including Samantha Bell of Barrington, who was named Woman Veteran of the Year.
This honor recognizes a woman client who exemplifies true strength and dedication throughout the employment process and particularly emphasizes holding to military standards of courtesy and respect with their assigned Hire Heroes USA Transition Specialist and entire organization. Bell, a U.S. Navy veteran, served from 2013-2016, in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii as an interior communications electrician. After her exemplary service in the military, Bell embarked on a career in children’s mental health and education and currently serves as a clinical instructor in ABA therapy with the Birchtree Center. A two-time cancer survivor, Bell is a firm believer in the power of the human spirit to overcome even the toughest obstacles and prides herself on thriving through adversity.
Hire Heroes USA offers free, personalized one-on-one coaching, resume assistance, interview preparation and mentoring to military members, veterans and military spouses. The organization maintains a job board, hosts virtual career fairs and works directly with employers to secure job placements for clients. Hire Heroes has facilitated more than 95,000 confirmed hires since the organization was founded in 2005, including nearly 14,000 job placements in 2023.
