Barge strike shuts down Texas bridge

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A barge struck a bridge in Galveston, Texas on Wednesday.

According to NBC affiliate KPRC, a barge strike shut down traffic on the Pelican Island Bridge.

Aerial footage shows a trail of oil beneath the bridge. Officials say the intercostal waterway will be shut down due to the spill.

There’s no word yet on what caused the collision.
