Bank teller stole thousands from customers: Police

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A former teller at a St. Louis County bank is accused of stealing thousands from customer accounts over an eight-month period.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s probable cause statement, the theft took place between May 2020 and January 2021 at the Royal Banks branch in the 13100 block of Olive Boulevard.

Police claim Tiereney I. Williams, 38, routinely withdrew money from customers’ accounts without their knowledge or consent and either kept the money for herself or moved the funds between accounts to hide her malfeasance.

An internal bank investigation revealed Williams stole approximately $8,800. Williams claimed that the withdrawals were either made accidentally or with account holders’ consent when questioned by bank executives about her actions.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Williams with one count of stealing – $750 or more. Williams was issued a summons to appear in court on April 30.
