The Marc Trestman era in Baltimore has come to an end. The Ravens fired the Offensive Coordinator this morning after yesterday’s loss to the Washington Redskins. Marc Trestman served as the Ravens’ Offensive Coordinator for 21 games.

The Ravens’ offense struggled in 2015, as they were 25th in points scored with 20.5 points a game. But the Ravens chalked their 2015 struggles up to an abnormally high amount of injuries and they decided to give Trestman a second chance. But the offense hasn’t been much better in 2016. The Ravens offense is currently 23rd in points with 18.8 points a game and this is with Joe Flacco healthy, Breshad Perriman healthy, Dennis Pitta healthy, Terrance West replacing an ineffective Justin Forsett, Ronnie Stanley at Left Tackle, and Mike Wallace.

Coach John Harbaugh released an official statement about the replacement of Marc Trestman by Marty Morhinweg as Offensive Coordinator of the Ravens.

Marc Trestman will be replaced by Marty Mornhinweg, current Ravens QB Coach, who has an experienced resume as an offensive coordinator. He’s coached five different Pro Bowl quarterbacks including Steve Young, Brett Favre, and Donovan McNabb. His offenses have finished 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 9th, 10th, and 12th in total offense, and regularly highly ranked in big plays. And even when Mornhinweg was working in New York with Geno Smith as his quarterback, the Jets still had top five rushing offenses in 2013 and 2014.

The last time the Ravens fired an offensive coordinator in the middle of the season, and replaced him with a QB coach who had rapport with Joe Flacco, was 2012.

That was the Super Bowl championship year.
