Baltimore Department of Public Works employee shot while collecting trash, police say

A Baltimore Department of Public Works employee is in stable condition after being shot Friday morning in Southwest Baltimore, police said.

The injured employee, a 42-year-old man, was working with a DPW crew Friday morning when an unidentified male suspect began shooting, striking him, Baltimore Police said in a news release.

Officers responded at about 10:51 a.m. to the shooting in the rear of the 800 block of Allendale Street in the Edgewood neighborhood, where the crew had been collecting trash, police said.

The wounded man was loaded into a DPW vehicle and taken to a hospital, police said. Those with information are asked to contact Southwest District Detectives at 410-396-2488 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7Lockup.
