Baldwyn man charged with Prentiss County burglary

BOONEVILLE – A Baldwyn man was arrested by Itawamba County deputies and charged with the burglary of a logging site in southeast Prentiss County.

Prentiss County deputy sheriffs received a report in early April of damaged equipment and several stolen items from a logging site off County Road 5481, near Marietta. The investigation led to affidavits being filled against Jacob Wayne Mears, 26, of Hill Chapel Road, Baldwyn, charged with burglary of an automobile and felony malicious mischief.

Mears was arrested by the Itawamba County Sheriff’s Office April 24 on two felony warrants and was brought to Prentiss County Sheriff’s Office. After Mears was questioned by investigators, several of the stolen items were located, recovered and returned to the owner.

He has since been released from the Prentiss County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
