Baldwyn man accused of sexually assaulting a minor

TUPELO – A Prentiss County man spent less than 90 minutes in jail Monday after being arrested for sexually assaulting a juvenile.

The Tupelo Police Department served a capias warrant for the sexual battery of a child under 16 on Rodney O. Shelley, 22, of North Fifth Street, Baldwyn. The charge pertains to a 2020 report involving a minor.

He was booked into the Lee County Adult Jail Monday afternoon at 12:26. He posted a $50,000 Lee County grand jury bond and was released the same day at 1:51 p.m. The case is awaiting trial in Lee County Circuit Court.
