Baker Police investigating after seven burglaries at businesses
BAKER, La. (BRPROUD) — Seven local businesses in Baker were broken into since the beginning of May, leaving business owners afraid of it happening again.
Businesses impacted include restaurants, a lawn mowing machine store and a dentist’s office.
Owner of Truck Stuff USA David Forbes said cash and inventory were taken from his business during a morning break-in. He said over $15,000 worth of machine equipment was taken.
“I feel like this could happen again. And in fact, I thought they might come back and have hit us already because that’s the usual from what I understand,” said Forbes.
Another business was Rabel Family Dentistry. Office Manager Cindy Minson said the footage showed something thrown at the front glass and the suspect inside the office looking for items and money.

Baker Police Chief Carl Dunn said the burglaries are still under investigation as they try to determine if it’s one suspect or several.
“We have a real good suspect and we would just like, you know, get more evidence before we can actually say this is the only person that was doing all the burglaries,” said Dunn.
Dunn wants business owners to stay vigilant and to alert police to any suspicious activity.
“Make sure you know certain things are locked up. Certain areas in the office are locked up. Some things are maybe removed from the office,” said Minson.
If you have information to help the investigations, call the Baker Police Department at 225-775-6000.
