Baker at ‘beloved’ SF donut shop seriously injured in hit-and-run crash

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — An employee of Bob’s Donuts in San Francisco is in critical condition after he was hit by a car while riding a scooter to work, according to the San Francisco Police Department. The driver of the car fled the scene after the crash.

The crash happened at about 2:55 a.m. on Sunday at Duboce Avenue and Guerrero Street. A GoFundMe was started for the victim, Jesus Zamudio.

According to the GoFundMe, he has a wife and two kids, aged 3 and 5, who live in Mexico.

“Jesus is a long-time employee of Bob’s Donuts and is a very important member of our team. He is hardworking, resilient, and kind,” the GoFundMe organizers wrote.

San Francisco supervisor Aaron Peskin said he introduced a resolution on Tuesday to help the shop relocate from its location at 1621 Polk St.

“They should be celebrating, but they’re focused instead on helping Bob’s Donuts baker, Jesus Zamudio, heal from a hit+run,” Peskin said.

The GoFundMe is requesting $50,000, which will all go to Zamudio’s medical bills, recovery and family.
